Mary, Mother Of God

Brothers and sisters:
When the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son,
born of a woman, born under the law,
to ransom those under the law,
so that we might receive adoption as sons.
As proof that you are sons,
God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts,
crying out, “Abba, Father!”
So you are no longer a slave but a son,
and if a son then also an heir, through God (Galatians 4: 4-7).

God did not send another prophet but his sent his Son, born of a woman, a fourteen year old virgin, who remained a virgin; we call Mary ever-virgin. Jesus Christ became one of us in order to save us, but he could have come as a thirty-year old man.  God had another plan in mind for us and he sent someone who became like us in all things but sin.

Mary is not only Mother of Christ but she is Mother of God, which is what we celebrate today.  She is also your Mother and mine, and one who will help you no matter what.

Have a Blessed New Year!!
