First Steps
At St. Joe’s, we feel that getting more involved in the parish is the best way to grow in the faith. This can be done by regular weekend attendance, by becoming a lector or greeter or to serve in some way in the parish. Today we need a community that helps us to know ourselves and to little by little live the faith in our ordinary lives, which is a challenge. Our Faith Formation is transforming to a family style approach (called Pathways) where parents are more involved in teaching their children. Their voice is the most important one in the lives of their children. This process helps them to grow in faith also. There is an active Knights of Columbus council and Altar Rosary Society that meets monthly. Contact us if to find out more information.
Prayer Request
A group of intercessors are dedicated to praying for the needs of our parish and our parishioners. We would welcome the opportunity to pray with you. If you would like to submit a prayer request, please complete the following form.
Hospital Visits
A stay in the hospital can be a frightening and lonely ordeal. We would like to support and encourage you during that difficult time. Our Pastoral Visitors are ready to visit with you or your loved one, pray together and, if you choose, share Communion.
Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is offered anytime someone is in danger of death or old age; better when the person is conscious.
Funerals
The death of a loved one is one of the most difficult experiences of life. The prayerful support and assistance of your parish family can be indispensable at this time. Through your funeral home we can help you to plan this important event in the liturgy that best suits your needs whether it is a traditional funeral, or service at the funeral home, or a graveside committal or another appropriate remembrance of your choice.
Our Bereavement Ministry also have an afternoon seminar once or twice a year. Contact us for details. Also if needed St. Joe’s has a small cemetery on Ridge Rd. in Lyndhurst.
Pastoral Visitors
Our priests and ministers are available to visit homebound parishioners, as well as those who have transitioned to assisted living or in hospice care. A visit from the parish brings comfort and encouragement, Christian fellowship and prayerful support. If you would like, they can also bring Communion.
