Dear Friends in Christ,

The Faith Formation Office has undergone several name changes over the past years. The original name most people are familiar with is CCD, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. Then it was changed to Religious Education, (this name is still used by many parishes today.) Growing in our faith includes learning, experiencing, and living what it means to be Catholic. It’s more than an education in facts. The name Faith Formation more closely embodies the mission and direction of our programs. At Baptism, we become members of the Catholic Faith. Through the years as we learn about our faith we are informed of the doctrines and formed by the experiences we share. This leads us to participating in the sacramental life of the church where we are more deeply transformed by the Body of Christ. Saint Augustine said, “We become what we receive.”

This cycle of forming, informing and transforming does not happen overnight. It is a Lifelong Journey of Faith. The Faith Formation Office hopes you will find Saint Joseph‘s a place to learn about your faith, share experiences of life, and worship our God with a joyful heart.
